Custom "retro" wheelset for a lovely 1984 Trek 720. Bike is a resto-mod, updated with 9 speed Dura Ace bar end shifters and a 12-30 cassette for modern, indexed shifting. To maintain the aesthetic of the original factory wheels, we used NOS Ultegra 6500 Polished hubs, laced with DT Swiss Competition spokes and DT brass nipples to H+Son TB-14 Box section rims. Not the flashiest wheels I have built, not even close to the lightest, but some of the most satisfying. I think the owner really nailed it here. Beautiful bike that looks factory vintage, rides like classic steel should, but incorporates modern performance where appropriate.
